Alright fantasy crackheads the post season has begun: both in IRL and here at DFF. We had 12 players sign up for the Post Season Brawl at 33 bucks a pop. For those that didn't join, here is how the post season is formatted:

There are 5 rounds, full PPR. This is different from our half PPR Grand Prix and HardCorps leagues. Managers pick a 9-man roster (QB, 2xRB, 3xWR, TE, Flex, DST) with a budget of $200 dollars from the players that are playing in the games for that round. e.g. Rnd 1 consisted of players from the Rams, Packers, Panthers, and Bears. Managers know who won the round by the end of the day. The first two rounds are now complete. For round 1, the winning roster was: Matt Stafford 23.16

Kyren Williams 14.50

D'Andre Swift 16.20

Davante Adams 9.70

Jalen Coker 23.90

Romeo Doubs 22.40

Colby Parkinson 10.40

Puka Nacua 29.50

LA Rams 5.00

Total: 154.76

This entry was none other than the younger half of the newest father-son duo to join DFF: Ayden Castro. Ayden selected his roster with just a few minutes left before the rounds started and good thing he did. He'll be taking the prize for round 1. That Jalen Coker pick though. But he wasn't the most efficient pick of the round. That goes to Matthew Golden with 1.64 points per dollar spent. A lot people took Puka this round despite his high cost, but as per usual, he was worth it. For round 2, the winning roster was:

Brock Purdy 18.88

Travis Etienne 20.10

Christian McCaffrey 26.40

Khalil Shakir 14.20

Brian Thomas Jr 9.10

Devonta Smith 11.00

Dallas Goedert 17.40

Quentin Johnston 3.50

New England Pats 15.00

Total: 165.58

This entry was submitted by yours truly, The Commissioner: Dane!!! 5 minutes before the game started I could not find out whether Kayshon Boutte was going to play (he was still listed as questionable). I had to do a quick swap I knew I wanted Johnston, but couldn't afford him so I had to drop Kittle and pick up Dallas Goedert instead. Turns out that was rather fortuitous for me. However, it was unfortunate for the Niners since they lost George Kittle to an achilles injury. Goedert ended up being the highest scoring TE from the round, and, while Johnston only got me 3.5 points, Boutte only scored 8.6 so it was a net win for me. For this round C-Mac was the high ticket item, but, much like Puka, he was worth it. The biggest steal in this round was Demarcus Robinson for $10 dollars and scoring 20.10 points. Over 2 points per dollar!!

The current overall standings are as follows:

There is a pretty big gap between 1 and 2, but only 11 points separate 2nd from 4th. There's another pretty big gap after that so if those managers from 5-12 want in on the SuperBowl they will have some work to do in the following rounds. But don't lose heart if was in 4th place after the first round and down nearly 30 points, now I'm in the lead by 22 that's a 50 point swing in ONE round. Anything can happen in the Daily Fantasy format. A 50 point swing for our last place contestant Lance would put him just 1 point out of 2nd place. So make sure you're making your list and checking it twice. Wait, that season is over. Whatever, just set your lineups!!!

Rounds 3 and 4 will commence this Saturday and Sunday respectively. With rosters to be selected from BUF @ DEN and SF @ SEA on the Saturday slate. Those games will be the first ones played by DEN and SEA after their first round byes. Is that a good thing or a bad thing for their fantasy production? Sunday's games will be LA @ CHI, and the winner of tonight's MNF will travel to NE for their 2nd game.. The 5th round will be played on January 25th. With both the conference championships being played that day (who ya'll pickin'?)

The championship round will be the top 4 scoring managers from the first 5 rounds. The managers will select a roster from the SuperBowl teams and the top 2 scores will be paid.

I had originally intended to pay the winners of each individual round their money back and pay 3rd place. However, since there was only 12 players I'm cutting the 3rd place prize and only paying the top two players. This ensures the winners get a substantial reward, and the round winners at least get their money back. I was also going to keep 3 dollars per entry for website maintenance, but I put some of that into the prize pool since we didn't get to 20 entrants.

So here's the prize breakdown for the Post Season Brawl: Per Round winner - 5x30 = $150

1st - $150

2nd - $75 Good luck in the next rounds friends!! -Dane
